No Perfect People Allowed

“I don’t always do what I am supposed to do and the things I do, I shouldn’t”, is a common confession I have been hearing lately.  Imperfection in their life was convicting and causing them to question if they were good enough to be in church. Well, even the Apostle Paul knew the sinful nature of mankind was within him, when he said, “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” Romans 7:19

We live in this world of imperfection as imperfect people.  Now this is not to be an excuse for sinful behavior, by no means, but to be a reminder from whom we receive our perfection, Jesus Christ!  Christmas is the season in which we see God incarnate, Emmanuel, come to us in the manger in Bethlehem.  Jesus Christ born of a virgin into this imperfect world.

Why did God send His Son to us?   Jesus stated why in Matthew 9:12-13, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."  He came for all of us, the imperfect people of this world.  His perfection, His righteousness given to us, as Jesus took on our imperfections at the cross and died in our place, so that we may become perfect through Him.

Perfection came first as a Baby in a manger and Perfection will come again soon to restore all of creation to perfection. Until His return, imperfection (sin) will be a part of our lives and we only need to look into the manger and see our forgiveness and perfection reflected in His eyes.   Merry Christmas!
